Tawny Menster sparkled as a hitter and a pitcher for Mount Mercy Saturday as the Mustangs swept a Heart of America Conference doubleheader from Waldorf at Busse Field.
Menster went 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs as the Mustangs won the first game, 9-7.
Menster moved from right field into the pitcher's circle for Game 2 and allowed only one earned run on seven hits as the Mustangs took the nightcap, 7-2, for the sweep.
The non-conference victories lifted Mount Mercy to 5-5 for the campaign.
Payton Bruner and Jessica Miller scored three runs for the Mustangs in the 9-7 verdict in the opener. Jolona Shield was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jayna Witzany picked up the win with 5 1/3 innings in relief.
Shield collected three RBIs in the 7-2 victory in the second game. Jess Heick was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Morgan Braughton had two hits and Miller scored two runs.
