The Mount Mercy baseball team enjoyed good pitching and timely hitting Saturday to sweep a Heart of America Conference twinbill from Graceland, 6-2 and 7-2, at the Plaster Athletic Complex.
The sweep lifted the Mustangs to 11-12 overall and 8-7 in the league.
Shortstop Chili Moseley went 5-for-9 in the doubleheader with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs.
Moseley was 3-for-4 in Game 1 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Nick Sueppel drove in three runs. Jake Faur belted a solo home run and scored twice. Tito Berdecia and Owen Oreskovich had two doubles.
Tanner Lohaus allowed two runs on three hits in six innings of the opener. He struck out seven batters and walked two.
Moseley went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and scored a run in the nightcap. Oreskovich was 2-for-2 with two walks. Kobi Candaroma drove in two runs. Sueppel walked three times and hit a sacrifice fly.
Blake Willenborg pitched six strong innings for the Mustangs in Game 2. He allowed only one earned run on five hits, with five strikeouts and one walk. Willenborg raised his record to 4-0. Matt Trouten pitched three hitless innings for his fourth save.
Graceland fell to 3-15 overall and 1-10 in the league.
