GALESBURG, Ill. - The Kirkwood men's golf team sizzled at the Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invitational on Friday.
Ryan Morrison of Kirkwood shot a 4-under-par 68 and sits in first place after 18 holes at the Soangetaha Country club in Galesburg, Ill. Dawson Peters and Will Babcock of Kirkwood fired rounds of 1-under 71 to share third place, helping the Eagles grab a 15-shot lead heading into Saturday.
George Kalpakas of Kirkwood, competing as an individual, shot a 1-over 73 and is tied for sixth.
Kirkwood has a team score of 2-under 286, with Concordia University of Wisconsin in second place at 301. Twenty teams are competing.
