Coe saw a 10-point halftime lead slip away, then rode the hot hands of Courteney McCrary and Mickey Hansche late in the second half to down Simpson, 75-69, Wednesday night in the Iowa Conference opener at Eby Fieldhouse.

Simpson (10-2, 0-1) came in as the preseason favorite to win the league title.

Coe (8-7, 1-0) got a terrific performance from McCrary. The former Prairie prep scored a team-high 20 points, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range. Hansche finished with 15. Aleena Hobbs had 14 points and eight rebounds while Jenna Lehman finished with 10 points.

Brittany Hedrick led the Storm with 20 points, including five 3-point baskets. MacKenzie Haupt added 16 points for Simpson.
