PDF

Coe baseball player Cole Tomlinson and men's tennis player Ryan Hickman have earned player of the week honors from the Iowa Conference.

Tomlinson, a senior utility player, hit .692 with a 1.154 slugging percentage as the Kohawks finished their spring trip with four wins in five outings to improve to 7-1 overall. He was 2-for-4 with four RBIs in a 9-5 loss to Wittenburg, then went 2-for-2 and was beaned twice, scoring all four times, in Coe’s 10-5 win over Dickinson (Pa.).

In Coe’s 17-1, 7-inning win over Principia, Tomlinson hit a two-run home run in his only official at-bat and drew three walks, scoring all four times he reached base. In a doubleheader sweep over Fontbonne, he finished 4-for-6 with a double, five RBIs and three runs scored as Coe posted wins by scores of 7-6 and 19-2.

Hickman, a junior, went 3-0 singles and 3-1 in doubles last week. Playing at No. 4 singles, he defeated McMurry’s Rayce Roberson (6-0, 6-0), Frankie Fischer of No. 20 Texas-Tyler (6-1, 6-2) and Gunnar Peery of NAIA No. 13 Aquinas (6-2, 6-1).

Playing at No. 2 doubles, he paired with Brady Anderson for an 8-2 win against McMurry’s Carlos Perez and Hunter Ward and an 8-6 loss to Texas-Tyler’s Daniel Budd and Harry Kelleher. He also played a couple of matches with Noah Sprinkel, posting an 8-0 shutout of Aquinas’ Andy Struble and Evan Taylor at the No. 2 position and an 8-1 win over Drew Weinhold and Will Byler of Penn State Berks at the No. 1 position. He is 9-1 in his last 10 singles matches.
