Coe College will finish the 2015 season with a losing record.
That unhappy outcome was determined Saturday when the Kohawks fell to 24th-ranked Dubuque, 37-21, in an Iowa Conference game before 2,783 fans at Clark Field.
Coe fell to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference heading into the season finale next Saturday at Buena Vista. This will be Coe's first losing season since 2008, which was Steve Staker's first year as head coach.
Staker has compiled a 54-29 record in eight seasons with the Kohawks.
Josh Rekers completed 24 of 50 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns for Coe, but was intercepted three times. Dubuque raced to a 30-6 lead at halftime on three touchdown passes by Conor Feckley.
Elijah Phillips caught two TD passes from Rekers for 36 and 10 yards. Tyler Gunderson caught a 2-yard touchdown pass for the Kohawks.
Dubuque raised its records to 7-2 overall and 6-0 in the league.
