Coe netters advance at ITA regional

ST. PETER, Minn. – Five Coe College men’s tennis players remained alive after the first day of competition in the ITA Regional tournament Friday on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Fourth-seeded Brady Anderson and No. 17 seed Alex Bernt advanced to the Round of 16 in singles play with three wins.

Anderson and Josh Pudlo, seeded No. 7 in doubles, advanced to the Round of 32 for the Kohawks, as did Nate Ackert and Zack Decker.

Livermore takes 2nd for Kohawks

INDIANOLA - Hunter Livermore of Coe fired a 1-over-par 72 Wednesday to finish second at the Simpson Invitational at the Indianola Country Club.

Trent Lindenman of Simpson won the tournament with a 1-under 70.

Wartburg won the championship. Coe placed fifth out of nine teams.

Rinderknecht lifts Platteville by Coe

Cedar Rapids Prairie grad Logan Rinderknecht scored in double-overtime Wednesday night to give Wisconsin-Platteville a 2-1 victory over Coe in a men's soccer match at Clark Field.

Platteville scored first in the match, but Keegan McIntosh tied the game for the Kohawks in the second half with an assist from Ali Al-Yassery.

Rinderknecht won the game in the 104th minute with a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal from about 10 yards.

Platteville raised its record to 5-2-3. Coe fell to 1-7-1.

   

Coe women net 5th title in row

The Coe women's tennis team captured its fifth Iowa Conference title in a row Tuesday with a 9-0 victory over Wartburg at the Clark Racquet Center.

The Kohawks have won 36 straight regular-season matches in conference play.

Haley Resnick defeated Katherine Ross, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.

Coe raised its records to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the league. Wartburg fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2.

Coe women down Monmouth in soccer

The Coe women's soccer team spotted Monmouth a 1-0 lead Tuesday before roaring back for a 4-1 victory at Clark Field.

Ashlyn Moos, Gabby Lancial, Shalyn Kinney and Danielle Dahl scored goals for the Kohawks. Sarah Fathallah, Keira Frederito and Kinney collected assists. Moos had an unassisted goal when she tied the match, 1-1.

MJ Winterer made four saves for the Kohawks.

Coe raised its record to 10-1-1. Monmouth fell to 2-8.
