Anderson nets Iowa Conference title

WATERLOO - Coe sophomore Brady Anderson defeated teammate Ryan Hickman in the championship match of the Iowa Conference tennis tournament Saturday at Byrnes Park in Waterloo.

Anderson won the first set, 6-4, and Hickman retired during the second set.

Chad Moklestad and Josh Pudio of Coe lost to Trent Schneider and Kyle Appel of Luther, 8-4, in the doubles finals.

Monson wins title at Luther golf meet

DECORAH - Meg Monson of Mount Mercy University captured top honors at the Luther Invitational Saturday at the Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah.

Monson finished with a 36-hole performance of 16-over-par 160 with rounds of 79 and 81 on the 5,806-yard course.

Luther College won the meet. Mount Mercy tied Loras for third. Coe finished fifth and last.

Coe women suffer 1st loss

DECORAH - The Coe women's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season Saturday in the Iowa Conference opener at Luther, 2-0.

The Kohawks fell to 9-1-1 for the campaign. Luther raised its record to 8-1.

Coe managed only two shots in the match, including none in the second half. The Kohawks had only one shot on goal.

Luther scored both of its goals in the second half on shots by Ellie Bunz and Tonje Sakvitne.

Coe men booted by Luther

DECORAH - The Coe men's soccer team lost to Luther, 6-2, in an Iowa Conference match Saturday in Decorah.

Shuhei Miyake and Kory Donithan scored goals for the Kohawks. Nick Kielty and Ryan Oppegard had assists.

Coe fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-1 in the league. Luther raised its marks to 6-2-1- and 1-0.
