Conroy leads Coe runners at Griak Invy

MINNEAPOLIS - Lucy Conroy placed 10th for the Coe women's cross country team Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.

The Kohawks finished seventh out of 17 teams. Wellesley nipped St. Olaf, 50-51, for the women's title.

Nathan Haerr placed 19th for the Coe men in their race. The Kohawks finished eighth out of 15 teams. Wisconsin-Oshkosh ran away with the men's crown.

Coe women sixth at Simpson golf

INDIANOLA - Erin Lang shot an 84 to finish ninth individually as the Coe women's golf team finished sixth overall Monday at the Simpson Fall Invitational.

The Kohawks finished at 375 as a team. William Penn captured the team title with a 316 total over the par-71 layout at Indianola Country Club.

Medalist honors went to Grand View's Maria Mantilla, who shot a 3-over-par 74.

Coe women blank Grinnell in soccer

Kelsey Fauser scored a goal in the 12th minute of the game Wednesday night to give the Coe women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Grinnell at Clark Field.

Fauser connected into the bottom-left corner of the goal from 10 yards away with assists from Hannah Torry and Jordan Holmes. MJ Winterer made two saves for the shutout for the Kohawks.

Coe raised its record to 9-0-1 with the victory. Grinnell fell to 2-5.

   

Coe volleyball bitten by Buena Vista

STORM LAKE - The Coe volleyball team was swept by Buena Vista, 25-15, 25-22, 29-27, in an Iowa Conference match in Storm Lake Tuesday night.

Lindsey Koch and Lauren Himan led the Kohawks with seven kills. Mackenzie Harbaugh had six kills and Briana Smith had five.

Harbaugh finished with 23 assists.

Coe fell to 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Buena Vista is 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.

 

3 Kohawks honored by Iowa Conference

Sarah Fathallah has been named the Iowa Conference Female Athlete of the Week for her work with the Coe soccer team.

Fathallah, a senior forward from Linn-Mar, collected three goals in a 7-1 victory over Cornell and also scored in a 3-0 victory over Westminster. Her performance against Cornell came in her first game after returning from an injury.

Coe goalkeeper MJ Winterer received the weekly defensive honor from the league in women's soccer. Haley Resnick of Coe was saluted in women's tennis after helping the Kohawks clinch at least a tie for their fifth straight Iowa Conference title.
