Coe women net 5th straight title

DECORAH - The Coe women's tennis team topped Luther, 6-3, Sunday to clinch at least a share of its fifth straight Iowa Conference title.

Haley Resnick, Amy Sebastian, Laura Birky, Diannah Watson and Tamara Washington won their singles matches for the Kohawks. Resnick defeated Maggie Helms, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

Coe raised its records to 5-0 in the conference and 6-1 overall. The Kohawks have won 35 straight regular-season matches in the Iowa Conference.

Luther fell to 4-1 in the league and 7-1 overall.

Coe golfers ninth at Dubuque

Jason Gingrich's total of 164 led the Coe men's golf team to a ninth-place finish Sunday at the University of Dubuque Men's Invite at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.

Dubuque won the team title with a 581, followed by Wartburg at 602. Coe finished at 666.

Anders Haukoos of Dubuque took medalist honors with a two-day total of 2-over-par 142, one shot better than Wartburg's Michael Canfield.

Anderson nets 2 in win for Kohawk women

Miranda Anderson scored a pair of goals and former Linn-Mar player Sarah Fathallah added another as the Coe women's soccer team downed Westminster, 3-0, on Sunday at Clark Field.

Koera Frederito had a pair of assists for the Kohawks (8-0-1) while MJ Winterer had fives saves in posting the shutout.

Westminster falls to 2-4-1.

   

Coe men falter in second half

The Coe men's soccer team played even with visiting Illinois Wesleyan for 50 minutes before the visitors scored four times before the final whistle, winning 4-0 on Sunday at Clark Field.

Coe is 1-5-1 after the loss. Illinois Wesleyan is 3-3-1.

 

Coe men’s soccer falls 2-0

CHICAGO – Noah Griffith scored two goals in the second half as Illinois Tech beat the Coe College men’s soccer team 2-0 Saturday.

The Kohawks (1-4-1) held a 6-5 advantage on shots on goal, but Griffith managed to score in the 50th and 77th minutes for Illinois Tech (2-3-1).

Goalie Alec Balta had three saves for Coe, while Anastasios Manolis had six saves for Illinois Tech.
