Coe College - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Kohawks spike Dubuque in volleyball

The Coe women's volleyball team raised its record to 8-3 Tuesday night with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-17 conquest of Dubuque in an Iowa Conference meet at Eby Fieldhouse.

Lauren Himan led the Kohawks with 11 kills and Brianna Smith had 10. Mackenzie Harbaugh rolled up 30 assists for Coe.

 

 

Mount Mercy wins Cropper golf title

The Mount Mercy Mustangs won the Cropper Golf Classic by 10 shots Sunday at Hunters Ridge.

Will Bruyeres and George Long of Mount Mercy tied for second place in the individual standings with 36-hole scores of 3-over-par 147. Laxton Bennett of Viterbo claimed medalist honors with a 2-under 142.

Mount Mercy finished at 596. Viterbo edged Kirkwood, 606-607, for second place. Coe placed 11th out of 14 teams.

Jordan Even led Kirkwood at 5-over 149. Charlie Hartwig, competing for the Kirkwood "B" team, fired a 3-under 69 Sunday for the best score of the day.

Coe women 10th at Wartburg golf

WAVERLY - The Coe women's golf team sits in 10th place after the first round of the Wartburg College Fall Invitational at Prairie Links Golf Club in Waverly Saturday.

The University of St. Thomas leads the 16-team field at 301. Coe is 54 shots behind at 355.

Erin Lang of Coe is tied for 20th with a 9-over-par 81. Vrishali Sinha of Grinnell and Emily Thul of St. Thomas have the first-day lead at 1-under 71.

Holmes sparks Coe women's soccer team

CHICAGO - Jordan Holmes scored two goals Saturday to help the Coe women's soccer team top North Park, 3-1, in Chicago.

The Kohawks raised their record to 6-0, the best start in school history.

Kelsey Fauser collected a goal and assist for Coe. MJ Winterer played 70 minutes in goal and Kaitlyn Gordley finished the match.

 

No.23 Kohawks split 2 matches

The Coe women's volleyball split its two matches on the road Saturday.

The 23rd-ranked Kohawks outlasted Ohio Northern, 25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 17-25, 15-10, and lost a tight contest to Illinois Wesleyan, 25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-7.

Bri Smith collected 27 kills against Ohio Northern. Ali Arns finished with 46 assists and Lindsey Koch had 35 digs.

Koch contributed 12 kills and 36 digs against Illinois Wesleyan. Arns had 35 more assists.
