Coe's Cook gets 400th victory

Michael Goerdt scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the first game, then followed with a homer and three runs scored in the nightcap as Coe swept past Central, 3-2 and 7-3 on Friday at Daniels Park, giving Kohawk Coach Steve Cook his 400th career victory.

pitched six innings of one-run baseball, striking out seven. Despite giving up the tying run in the top of the seventh, Tony Becker picked up the win.

The Kohawks led just 3-2 entering the bottom of the eighth in Game 2 where Goerdt, who had earlier doubled, cracked a solo home run as part of a four-run inning. Catcher Grant Henning had two hits and Cole Tomlinson had a bases-clearing double in the eighth.

Jack Hoffmann got the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings.

Coe softball swept by Simpson

INDIANOLA - The Coe softball team scored only one run in two games Wednesday and dropped an Iowa Conference doubleheader at Simpson, 9-0 and 4-1.

The Kohawks had three hits in the first game and four hits in the nightcap.

The losses dropped Coe to 19-13 overall and 3-5 in the conference. Simpson raised its records to 24-8 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Coe men's tennis team keeps rolling

The Coe men's tennis played two different Iowa Conference matches against two different opponents in two different cities Tuesday and collected two easy victories.

The Kohawks split their squad in half and posted an 8-1 victory at Dubuque and a 9-0 victory at Simpson.

Noah Sprinkel cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles in the match against Dubuque. Riley Galbraith posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Simpson.

Coe raised its records to 17-4 overall and 6-0 in the league.

Coe softball team sweeps Platteville

The Coe softball team swept a doubleheader from Wisconsin-Platteville, 6-2 and 8-2, Tuesday at Clark Field.

Brianna Gardner and Maliah Fligg had two hits for the Kohawks in the opener. Gretchen Lilienthal had two RBIs and Gardner scored two runs.Fligg got the victory in Game 1. She did not allow any earned runs in the

6-2 victory and had four strikeouts.

Fligg and Haley Smith socked home runs in the second game. Fligg was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Smith was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Konrardy named to D3baseball team

Coe junior Craig Konrardy has been selected for the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for his performances with the Kohawks.

Konrardy hit .591 in five games (13 of 22) with four doubles, one triple, seven RBIs, five stolen bases and eight runs scored. In addition, he did not make any errors in 25 chances at shortstop.

Konrardy has reached base in 37 straight games, the second-longest active streak in the nation at all levels of college baseball. His streak began last year and has continued this season.

Coe won all five of its games last week, including a four-game sweep of Simpson in Iowa Conference games. The Kohawks are 18-9 overall and 10-8 in the league.
