Coe finishes 13th at Duhawk invite

PEOSTA - The Coe College men's golf team shot its fourth lowest round of the season on Monday, as the Kohawks finished 13th at the Duhawk Invite, played at Thunder Hills Country Club.

Senior Tyler Gunderson shot an 82 on Monday, as he tied for 50th overall with a 163 over the two days. Sophomore Anthony Worden shot an 88 on Monday, finishing the two-day event in a tie for 65th with a 175.

Central won the team title with a 582. The Kohawks finished 13th with a 690.

Coe's Konrardy, Alger honored

Coe baseball player Craig Konrardy and discus thrower Melissa Alger earned player of the week honors from the Iowa Conference on Monday.

Konrardy, a junior shortstop, hit .591 (13-of-22) with an .864 slugging percentage, four doubles, a triple, seven RBIs, five stolen bases and eight runs scored as Coe went 5-0 last week. He went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, a walk, was hit by a pitch, stole three bases and scored three times in a 19-6 win over Monmouth on April 7 to start the week. Konrardy hit .611 (11-of-18) in a four-game IIAC sweep of Simpson.

Alger, a junior, won the discus at the Luther College Norse Relays with a toss of 142 feet, 9 inches

 

Monson third at Mount Mercy invite

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 85 Sunday in the final round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge to finish in for third place.

Monson shot an 81 on Saturday and finished at 166, two shots behind winner Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo. Erin Isaacson  of Viterbo was second at 165.

The 1-2 finish led Viterbo to the team title at 676, 28 shots ahead of runner-up Clarke. Mount Mercy ended up fifth and Coe finished ninth. Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an two-day total of 171 to finish ninth.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 183.

Monson paces Mount Mercy golfers

Meg Monson of Mount Mercy shot an 81 Saturday to stand in second place after the opening round of the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge.

Madi Goodfellow of Mount Mercy shot an 82 to help the Mustangs grab second place in the team standings behind Viterbo heading into the final round Sunday.

Katelyn Gille of Ashford fired an 80 Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round.

Bethany Lehman led Coe with a 92.

Kohawks win 5 events at Norse Relays

DECORAH - Coe athletes captured five events at the Norse Relays in Decorah Saturday.

The Coe women claimed three titles with Allison Rogers in the 10,000 (44:07.21), Sammie Osterberger in the 100 hurdles (15.56) and Melissa Alger in the discus (142-9).

Daniel Yunek claimed the hammer throw for the Coe men (168-8). The Kohawks also took the 1600 sprint medley in 3:32.70 with Anton Jones, Clayton Birkes, Dray Schreiber and Beau Freeborn.

The Coe women and men both finished third in the team standings.
