Coe College - Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Coe swimmer got early start in pool

Coe sophomore Kendall Bundy has been swimming since she was four years old. Her prowess in the pool has taken her all the way from Denver, Colo., to Cedar Rapids, where she's enjoying success with the Kohawks.

Bundy was recognized by the Iowa Conference as its swimmer of the week for the week of Nov. 5 in the 100-yard backstrokeand for Coe's fifth-fastest time in the medley relay.

Bundy attributes the success to the way her team trains.

“The positive atmosphere that our team provides is a really good, fast swimming environment,” she said. “Everybody is always behind each other. The coaches are positive and really help us stay positive and help us swim fast.”

Bundy started swimming at the age of four because her parents wanted her to get used to the water and she swam all the way to college.

Jersey state champ joining Coe matmen

Ryan Harrington got a taste of major college wrestling during his time at the University of North Carolina, but now he's excited about competing at the NCAA Division III level at Coe.

Harrington compiled an impressive 84-0 record and won two state titles in New Jersey as a high school junior and senior, but he did not feel comfortable at North Carolina and decided to leave.

"It wasn't the right fit," he said Saturday after competing at Coe's Turkey Open at Eby Fieldhouse. "I was excited about it at first.

"I'm at a great place now," he said. "I can't wait to get in the room. I'm ready to go."

Harrington, 20, has not been able to practice or wrestle with the Kohawks yet due to NCAA transfer rules. He's currently training on his own and is wrestling unattached, but believes he'll become eligible Dec. 16 and will be available for the bulk of the campaign.
