Fathallah's goal lifts Kohawks

Former Linn-Mar standout Sarah Fathallah scored the only goal of the match on a header in the 56th minute as Coe downed Clarke, 1-0, in women's soccer action Wednesday night at Clark Field.

The goal was Fathallah's eighth of the season. Meg Tulenko picked up the assist on the goal for Coe (8-8).

MJ Winterer had four saves in picking up the shutout. Coe had 12 shots on goal.

Clarke falls to 3-11-2.

 

Kohawks clinch tie for IIAC title

The Coe volleyball team clinched a tie for the regular-season title in the Iowa Conference Tuesday night with a 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 25-11 victory over Central College at Eby Fieldhouse.

The Kohawks raised their records to 22-6 overall and 6-0 in the IIAC.

Coe senior Rachel Bosworth collected eight kills and became only the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 kills in her career. She also had eight blocks.

Rachel Schaefer contributed 14 kills and 14 digs for the Kohawks. Mackenzie Harbaugh had 34 assists and eight kills.

Alissa Wittenburg finished with 15 digs and Ali Arns had 10 digs.

Central fell to 16-8 overall and 3-3 in the league.

 

Rekers helps Coe dump Simpson

INDIANOLA - Josh Rekers passed for two touchdowns and ran for another Saturday as Coe defeated Simpson, 35-21, in an Iowa Conference game before 3,873 fans in Indianola.

The game was tied, 14-14, at halftime when Rekers and the Kohawks went to work. Rekers hit Josh Rekers with a 50-yard touchdown pass for a 21-14 lead and connected with Dan Kopp for an 18-yard score.

Rekers also scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter as Coe exploded for 21 points in the stanza and grabbed a 35-14 advantage before Simpson (3-3, 0-3) could respond.

Rekers hit 21 of 31 passes for 273 yards and no interceptions. Lenstra scored on a 5-yard run to give him two touchdowns for the afternoon. Sam Lahr ran for 94 yards and began the scoring with a 6-yard run.

Coe soccer splits with Simpson

Sarah Fathallah scored in the 82nd minute Saturday to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Coe women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Simpson in an Iowa Conference game at Clark Field.

Simpson led 1-0 at halftime. Kelsey Fauser tied the match for the Kohawks in the 73rd minute, setting the stage for Fathallah's game-winner less than 10 minutes later. It was Fauser's fifth goal of the season and the seventh goal for Fathallah.

Brenna Winn collected an assist on Fauser's goal. Meg Tulenko got the assist on Fathallah's tally with a corner kick.

The Kohawks raised their records to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the league. Simpson fell to 2-13-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the league.

The Coe men's soccer team lost to Simpson, 7-0, dropping the Kohawks to 3-12 overall and 0-5 in the league. Simpson raised its records to 11-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

 

Kohawks stay perfect in Iowa Conference

INDIANOLA - The Coe volleyball team stayed on top of the Iowa Conference standings Tuesday night with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 victory over Simpson in Indianola.

The Kohawks raised their records to 5-0 in the conference and 20-5 overall.

Rachel Bosworth led Coe with 11 kills. Olivia Leisinger had eight kills and Rachel Schaefer added seven.

Mackenzie Harbaugh finished with 30 assists. Alissa Wittenburg had 16 digs and Olivia Gaudel had 14 digs.
