Coe's Rekers, Wittenburg cited by IIAC

Josh Rekers and Alissa Wittenburg of Coe College have been named Performers of the Week by the Iowa Conference.

Rekers passed for 317 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-28 loss at No. 24 Wheaton Saturday. He completed 31 passes, the second-most in school history. Rekers hit 26 of 31 passes in the second half as the Kohawks rallied from a 31-0 deficit.

Wittenburg collected 88 digs for the Coe volleyball team last week as the Kohawks won four of their five matches. She had 24 digs against Ohio Northern and 22 against Greenville and was saluted by the league for her work on defense.

 

Coe women 11th at Wartburg golf

WAVERLY - The Coe College women's golf team placed 11th out of 17 teams at the Wartburg Fall Invitational at Centennial Oaks in Waverly Sunday.

Carleton College (Minn.) won the team championship. Erin Dingmann of St. Thomas (Minn.) was the medalist with a 36-hole score of 2-over-par 146.

Jessica Franson of Coe tied for 25th at 18-over 162 with rounds of 80 and 82.

Mustangs take second at own tourney

Mount Mercy came up three shots short, finishing tied for second behind Illinois Wesleyan in the Mount Mercy Invitational Sunday at Hunters Ridge.

The winners had a team score of 567. Mount Mercy and Grand View each had 570, Kirkwood was fourth at 584. Coe finished 22nd at 684.

Mount Mercy's best individual finishers were Nathan Chilcott and Jack South, who each finished tied for fifth at 141, four shots behind medalist Myles Pfingsten of Grand View.

Coe men booted by Knox, 1-0

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Nathaniel Logie scored on a rebound shot in the first half Sunday to give Knox a 1-0 victory over Coe in a men's soccer match at Rolf Mellby Field in Northfield, Minn.

The Kohawks managed only one shot on goal in the entire game as their record fell to 1-3.

Coe goalkeeper Eric Hoar made nine saves.

 

 

Coe women blank Knox in soccer

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kelsey Fauser and Sarah Fathallah scored goals Sunday as the Coe women's soccer team blanked Knox, 2-0, at the AMC Colleges Tournament in Northfield, Minn.

Fauser connected at the 3:49 mark of the first half with an assist from Fathallah for a 1-0 lead. Fathallah connected for an unassisted goal at

the 59:35 mark of the second half.

The Kohawks out-shot Knox, 18-7. MJ Winterer made three saves for Coe in goal.

Coe won its first game of the season, raising its record to 1-3. Knox fell to 0-3.
