Mount Mercy men kick Jamestown

Marco Fichtner scored a pair of goals to lead Mount Mercy to a 4-0 men's soccer victory over Jamestown on Sunday at Heco Field.

Jamie Booth and Jamesser Minthor also tallied for the Mustangs (13-3). Eric Pfau, Filip Kovacevic and Felix Budde had assists for Mount Mercy.

Matt Gutierrez made four saves in goal to post the shutout.

Jamestown is 8-5-1.

 

Jamestown blanks Mustang women, 5-0

Connie Contreras and Danica Brekken each scored twice as visiting Jamestown downed Mount Mercy, 5-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday at Heco Field.

The Mustangs (4-8-2) could muster just three shots on goal against goalie Lauren Sayler.

The win moves Jamestown to (7-5-1).

 

Mustangs finish 4-0 at Crimson Wave Invy

WHITING, Ind. - The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team swept both of its matches at the Crimson Wave Invitational Saturday and finished with a 4-0 record at the tournament in Whiting, Ind.

The Mustangs topped Indiana Northwest, 25-12, 25-13, 25-7, and tamed Roosevelt, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, on Saturday.

Mount Mercy beat Lincoln Christian, 3-1, and blanked Cincinnati Christian, 3-0, on Friday and finished the event with a 24-10 overall record.

Becca Thomson led the Mustangs with 11 kills against Indiana Northwest. Cori Peterzalek had nine kills. Emma Pisarik and Natalie Parizek had six kills apiece.

Abbie Perez collected 21 assists against Indiana Northwest and Hannah Whitley had 18. Peterzalek contributed 13 digs and Thomson had 12.

Peterzalek finished with 11 kills against Roosevelt. Leslie Hoffmann had eight kills, Thomson seven, Pisarik five and Olivia Coe five. Perez had 21 more assists and Whitley provided 14. Lauren Stopko had 14 digs, Thomson 12, Peterzalek 10 and Perez 10.

   

Salter helps Mustang women top Grace

Cally Salter scored three goals to lead the Mount Mercy women’s soccer team in a 5-1 win over Grace on Friday at HECO Field at Xavier High School.

Amy McGlynn scored a goal to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute with an assist by Sam Blowers. Salter then scored her hat trick with goals in the 16th, 27th and 58th minutes. Megan Hall and Lizzy Fowler had assists, and one of Salter's goals was unassisted.

Grace scored in the 68th minute, and Maisey McCoy finished the scoring with an unassisted goal for Mount Mercy in the 88th minute.

Mount Mercy out-shot Grace 21-4, and Hannah Schroeder had one save for the Mustangs.

Mount Mercy improved to 4-7-2, while Grace fell to 2-9.

 

Mount Mercy men boot Grace

The Mount Mercy men’s soccer team clobbered Grace, 6-1, Friday at HECO Field at Xavier High School.

Jamie Booth had two goals for the Mustangs, Timon Weidmann and Marco Fichtner each had a goal and an assist, Eike Stermeit and Jamesser Minthor each scored one goal, and Haris Hadzalic, Filip Kovacevic and Evan Moeller each had one assist.

The Mustangs had a huge 30-2 advantage on shots.

Mount Mercy is 12-3, while Grace is 4-9.
