Walker, Schulz pace No. 11 Cougars

DUBUQUE - Ryan Walker and Mark Schulz scored a pair of goals Friday as the 11th-ranked Kennedy Cougars spanked Dubuque Wahlert, 5-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.

Skylar Showalter scored the fifth goal for Kennedy.

Andrew Sheeley collected three assists for the Cougars. Showalter contributed two assists. Walker, Nikolas Newcamp, Jacob Sarasin and Josh Warder also had assists.

Kennedy raised its records to 7-6 overall and 5-5 in the MVC.

 

Kennedy girls roll past Wahlert

Alissa Waterhouse, Carlee Ellsworth and Sydney Hayden each scored two goals as No. 3 Kennedy had no trouble with Dubuque Wahlert, winning 10-0 on Friday night at Kennedy.

Alyssa Drewelow, Anna Frerichs, Kasey Dekko also scored for the Cougars.

Hayden and Morgan Petsche had two assists each. Drewelow, Alexis Hull and Olivia Hellweg had one each.

 

Kennedy stays 3rd in girls soccer

The Kennedy Cougars remained in the No. 3 spot in the Class 3A girls soccer rankings Friday by the IGHSAU.

Iowa City West is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A and Dowling Catholic is No. 2.

The Xavier Saints slipped one notch from No. 5 to No. 6 in Class 2A. Ankeny leads the Class 2A rankings.

Kennedy's Hargens 9th at Dubuque

Kennedy Sierra Hargens shot an 83, good for ninth place in the Ram Invitational on Thursday at Bunker Hill.

Dyersville Beckman's Brooke Klosterman shot a 71, six shots ahead of the field.

Dubuque Hempstead won the title with a 334, two shots ahead of Beckman.

Kennedy was seventh at 374.

Kennedy girls net tennis victory

The Kennedy girls tennis team lost only five games all day and blanked Waterloo East, 9-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Kennedy Wednesday.

Shelby Cook blitzed Laquinnesias Harris, 10-0, at No. 1 singles.

No. 11 Cougars knock off J-Hawks

Alex Stone, Mark Schulz and Sameeullah Jung scored goals Friday as the 11th-ranked Kennedy Cougars defeated Jefferson, 3-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Lower Kingston.

Ryan Walker and Schulz collected two assists for Kennedy. Jung and Andrew Sheeley also had assists.

Jefferson scored in the final minute of the match.

Kennedy raised its records to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the MVC.

 

No.3 Kennedy girls blank Jefferson

Kasey Dekko, Morgan Petsche, Olivia Hellweg and Carlee Ellsworth scored goals Tuesday as the third-ranked Kennedy girls soccer team shut out Jefferson, 4-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match.

Alyssa Drewelow, Alissa Waterhouse and Sydney Hayden collected assists for the Cougars.

   

Prairie girls shut out Kennedy

Vale Caro defeated Shelby Cook, 10-1, at No. 1 singles Tuesday as Prairie blitzed Kenned 9-0 in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Prairie.

Magui Caro, Karleigh Schilling, Shannon Costigan, Anna Postnikov and Michelle Grenn also won their singles matches for the Hawks.

Kennedy trims Prairie in boys tennis

Rami Hemaidan defeated Evan Gaskill, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles Monday to help Kennedy nip Prairie, 5-4, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Kennedy.

Corey Duncan, Kyle Butler and Matt Jontz also won their singles matches for Kennedy. Jason Niccolls and Brandon Bruhn won their matches for Prairie.

Hargens ties for 8th at MVC golf

CORALVILLE - Sierra Hargens of Kennedy tied for eighth place at the MVC Valley Division golf tournament at Brown Deer Monday.

Hargens shot a 15-over-par 86. Van Davidson shot an 18-over 89 for the Cougars.

Maddie Hawkins of Dubuque Senior took medalist honors with a 5-over 76.
