The Marion Indians could have to win a mini-Wamac Conference tournament to reach the Class 3A state baseball tournament this month.
The Indians (25-10) will face Clear Creek Amana (5-22) in the semifinals of the district tourney on Friday, July 13 at Solon at 5 p.m.
If the Indians defeat the Clippers, they'll face either Solon (9-22) or Center Point-Urbana (9-24) in the district finals on Monday, July 16 at Solon at 7 p.m.
And if the Indians win the district title, they could face sixth-ranked Benton Community (22-6) in the substate finals on Wednesday, July 18 at Vinton-Shellsburg at 7 p.m.
Marion, Clear Creek Amana, Solon, Center Point-Urbana and Benton Community all belong to the Wamac Conference. So does Vinton-Shellsburg, which is in the same substate bracket. The other two teams in theĀ bracket are Union of LaPorte City and South Tama.
Marion reached the semifinals of the Class 3A state tournament last year and is looking for another trip to Des Moines.
