Trca, Jones pace Marion girls soccer

VAN HORNE - Saige Trca and Holli Jones scored two goals apiece Tuesday as the Marion Indians blanked Benton Community, 6-0, in a Wamac Conference soccer match in Van Horne.

Mia Laube and Maddie Chambers also scored for the Indians.

Chambers collected two assists. Trca, Jones, Sheala Rael and Liz Banning also had assists.

Tessa Jordan got the shutout in goal.

 

Marion boys trimmed by Independence

INDEPENDENCE - The Marion High School boys tennis team was nipped by Independence, 5-4, in a Wamac Conference meet in Independence Tuesday.

Caleb Scott, Nate Meister and Peter Ward won their singles matches for Marion. Scott defeated Cole Turner at No. 1 singles, 10-2.

CPU tops Marion in girls golf

Marion's Taylor Wade took medalist honors with a 46, but the Indians dropped a Wamac girls golf dual meet to Center Point-Urbana, 210-243, on Monday at Gardner Golf Course.

Aubrey Sarchett and Natalea Cook each shot 49 to lead CPU.

CPU: Aubrey Sarchett 49, Natalea Cook 49, Sam Morris 55, Tanya Kula 57, Danielle Reed 71, Kaylee Curtis-Swore 71.

MARION: Taylor Wade 46, Anna Martinson 62, Isabelle Webber 65, Erin Thomason 70.

Kelly paces Marion golfers to victory

CENTER POINT - Ian Kelly fired a 39 at Rolling Acres Monday as the Marion Indians clipped Center Point-Urbana, 166-176, in a dual meet.

John Carstensen shot a 41 for Marion. Tyler Ellertson, Jack Serbousek and Alex Gaffney all had 43's.

 

Brown wins shot put for Marion girls

MANCHESTER - Mahlia Brown of Marion High School won the shot put with a toss of 41 feet, 1/2 inch at the West Delaware Invitational track meet Thursday.

Vinton-Shellsburg won the meet with 111 points. Marion finished fourth with 79.

The Indians got second-place finishes from Maddie Bach in the 1500 (5:09.16), Breanna Smith in the shot put (34-11) and the 4x800 relay (10:22.10).

Marion finished third in the 4x200 relay (1:52.91) and the distance medley (4:30.44).
