Kelly paces Marion golfers in DeWitt

DEWITT - Ian Kelly shot an 86 Tuesday to help the Marion Indians finish second at the DeWitt Central Saber Invitational at the Springbrook Country Club in DeWitt.

Reilly McGranahan of DeWitt Central claimed medalist honors with a 77 and led his team to the championship.

1. DeWitt Central 328, 2. Marion 354, 3. Dyersville Beckman 388, 4. Anamosa 392, 5. Maquoketa 440.

Marion boys wear crown at Tipton

TIPTON - The Marion Indians won five events and claimed top honors at the Tipton Invitational boys track meet Tuesday.

Colton Forster captured the 1600 in 4:42.74 and Skylar Cook won the long jump at 21 feet and 1/2 inch.

The Indians also claimed the 4x800 relay (8:49.74), the shuttle hurdle relay (1:02.27) and the 1600 distance medley (3:51.91).

Eichelberger leads Marion in Wamac meet

Carli Eichelberger led the Marion High School girls golf team with a nine-hole score of 50 Monday at a Wamac Conference quadrangular meet hosted by Clear Creek-Amana.

Kelsa Berkland fired an 8-over-par 44 to lead Williamsburg to the title.

Team Standings

1. Williamsburg 203, 2. Vinton-Shellsburg 228, 3. Marion 234, 4. Clear Creek-Amana 250.

Marion: Carli Eichelberger 50, Taylor Wade 55, Skylar Dede 58, Anna Martinson 71, Isabelle Webber 74, Erin Thomason 78.

 

   

Marion boys fourth in quad

SHELLSBURG - Ian Kelly shot a 39, two shots away from medalist honors, but the Marion boys golf team finished fourth in a Wamac Conference quadrangular meet Monday at Wildcat Golf Course.

Williamsburg took top honors with a 160. Vinton-Shellsburg's Daniel Janssen shot 37 to gain medalist honors 37

Team Standings: 1. Williamsburg: 160, 2. Vinton-Shellsburg: 164, 3. Clear Creek Amana: 169, 4. Marion: 171

Marion boys shutout Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA - The Marion boys tennis team dropped just 16 games in nine matches en route to a 9-0 Wamac Conference boys tennis win over Maquoketa on Monday.

Caleb Miller was a 10-1 winner at No. 1 singles for the Indians.
