Bobcat netters topple Indians

Western Dubuque swept all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 Wamac Conference boys tennis win over Marion on Monday.

The lone win for the Indians came at No. 1 doubles where Caleb Scott and Nate Meister defeated Alex Meyer and Ryan Yoder, 10-8.

Benton girls edge Marion

Marion's Taylor Wade tied for medalist honors with a 49, but it wasn't enough as Benton Community posted a 205-225 girls' golf dual meet victory on Monday.

Benton's Shelby Schallau also shot 49 to share medalist honors.

Marion golfers take 2nd at Ed-Co

EDGEWOOD - The Marion High School boys golf team finished second at the Ed-Co Tournament at the Woods Edge Golf Club in Edgewood Saturday.

Chris Cooksley fired a 76 to help Each Buchanan win the team title at 320. Marion finished 25 shots behind Each Buchanan at 345.

John Carstensen and Ian Kelly of Marion tied for fourth with 81's. Jack Serbousek shot 91 for the Indians and Jacob Kriegel had a 92.

1. East Buchanan 320, 2. Marion 345, 3. Monticello 347, 4. Ed-Coe 382, 5. Cascade 387, 6. Bellevue Marquette 422.

 

   

J-Hawks turn in 4 state-best efforts

The Jefferson J-Hawks took advantage of the good weather Saturday and posted four state-best efforts at the Kennedy coed track meet at Kingston Stadium.

Jasmine Blue took over the No. 1 spot in the 100 meter dash at 12.22 seconds and Abbie Ranschau moved to the top of the chart in the 100 hurdles in 14.87 seconds to help the Jefferson girls win the team championship by 50 points.

The Jefferson girls also lowered their own state-best mark in the 4x100 relay to 48.38 seconds with Lucy Schneekloth, Ranschau, Morgan Meese and Blue sharing the baton.

Merje' Bokoyo from the Jefferson boys track team was clocked in 10.86 seconds in the 100 meter dash, matching the best time in the state this year.

Duval gets hat trick for No. 16 Indians

ANAMOSA - Enoch Duval scored all three goals for the 16th-ranked Marion Indians Friday as they defeated Anamosa, 3-1, in a Wamac Conference soccer match in Anamosa.

Justin Thompson and goalkeeper Will Byers had assists.

Marion raised its record to 2-0.
