Marion boys clipped by Clear Creek

Drew Wagner poured in 25 points Friday night as Clear Creek-Amana topped Marion, 61-51, in a Wamac Conference basketball game at Marion.

The Clippers (12-4) got revenge against the Indians (11-4) for a home-court loss to Marion in December.

Jacob Manderscheid led Marion with 14 points. Craig Engle scored 12.

Jake Naubauer and Cal Miller both made four 3-pointers for Clear Creek-Amana. Neubauer scored 14 points and Miller had 12.

Marion girls take 3rd at Tripoli

TRIPOLI – Alexis Smith had a 202 game and a 340 series to lead the Marion girls bowling team to third place in a triangular meet Friday at Panther Lanes.

Denver won with 2,179 pins, Tripoli had 2,118 and the Indians finished with 1,698.

Alex Jennings led Denver with a 347 series. Kailey Heidemann rolled a 319 for Tripoli.

Marion boys knock off Tripoli, Denver

TRIPOLI – Nate Meister rolled a 234 game and a 437 series as the Marion boys bowling team scored 2,865 pins to beat Tripoli (2,761) and Denver (2,230) Friday at Panther Lanes.

Cody Funk had a 416 series for Tripoli. Riley Siemers had a 388 series for Denver.

Marion girls rally over Clippers

TIFFIN – Four Marion girls basketball players scored in double digits as the Indians came back from a five-point halftime deficit to beat Clear Creek Amana 62-54 Friday at Clear Creek Amana.

Class 4A No. 13 Marion trailed 30-25 at halftime, but went on a 16-5 run in the third quarter to take the lead.

Amanda Sahm led the Indians (14-4) with 19 points, Chloe Rice chipped in 16, Mia Laube had 14 and Michalyn Mohr added 10.

Marion gets 4 pins against DeWitt

Trevon Hernandez, Brady Bartz, Caleb Conway and Colin Conway collected pins for the Marion Indians Thursday night in a Wamac Conference wrestling meet against DeWitt Central at home.

DeWitt Central won the meet, 49-30.

Colin Conway had the fastest pin for the Indians in 2:12.
