Engle’s 21 points lead Indians

TIFFIN – Craig Engle had 21 points to lead the Marion boys basketball team to a 58-49 win over Clear Creek Amana on Tuesday.

The Indians shot 28-of-36 from the free-throw line, compared to 14-of-20 for the Clippers.

Devin Quinn added 11 points for Marion (4-2).

Jake Neubauer had 12 points for Clear Creek Amana (3-3), and Nile Rourke added 10 points.

Benton sinks Marion 60-47

Craig Engle had 13 points to lead the Marion boys basketball team in a 60-47  loss to Benton Community on Friday at Marion.

Lathan Cooper and Tucker Schroeder each had 16 points for the Bobcats (2-3), who made 10 3-point goals.

Marion fell to 3-2.

BENTON COMMUNITY (60): Cooper 6 1-2 16, Kraus 1 1-2 3, McFarland 0 0-0 0, Schroeder 6 6-7 16, Eggert 2 0-0 6, Morris 5 0-0 13, Hartl 2 0-0 4, Zittergruen 1 0-1 2. Totals 21 8-12 60.

Laube scores 17 for Indians

VAN HORNE – Mia Laube had 17 points as the Marion girls basketball team beat Benton Community 54-25 Friday.

Michalyn Mohr added 11 points for the Indians, who opened the game with a 15-0 run and improved to 5-1.

Jessica Heilman had nine points for the Bobcats (2-4).

Marion wrestlers drop Wamac meets

The Marion High School wrestling team lost a pair of Wamac Conference meets at home Thursday night.

Williamsburg topped Marion, 57-15, and Independence blanked the Indians, 78-0.

Trey Clifton (138), Caleb Conway (145), Colin Conway (152) and Kyle Van Meter (285) won their matches against Williamsburg. Colin Conway collected a pin in 4:36.

 

 

Rice, Sahm lift Marion girls

Chloe Rice and Amanda Sahm scored 14 points apiece Tuesday night as the Marion Indians topped South Tama, 45-39, in a Wamac Conference basketball game at Marion.

The Indians raised their records to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Chasia Shuckahosee scored 22 points for South Tama (0-5).

MARION (45): Peyton 0 0-0 0, Rice 5 4-4 14, Smith 0 1-4 1, Sahm 5 2-4 14, Mohr 2 1-3 5, Laube 3 3-4 9, Sade 0 0-0 0, Jordan 0 2-4 2. Totals 15 13-23 45.
