Engle lifts Marion by South Tama

TAMA - Craig Engle popped in 22 points Tuesday night as the Marion Indians defeated South Tama, 57-46, in a Wamac Conference basketball game in Tama.

Jacob Manderscheid scored 10 points for Marion.

Darius Lasley scored 17 points for winless South Tama (0-4).

Engle’s 26 lead Marion

Craig Engle had 26 points, including six 3-point goals, to lead the Marion boys basketball team to a 51-40 win over Jefferson on Saturday in Marion.

The score was tied 24-24 at halftime, but the Indians built a 37-33 lead at the end of the third quarter and continued to pull away in the fourth.

Devin Quinn added 10 points for the Indians, who improved to 2-1.

Adam Van Oort had 12 points for the J-Hawks, who fell to 0-2.

Conway wins at Monticello

MONTICELLO – Caleb Conway won the 145-pound title as the Marion wrestling team finished third with 122 points Saturday at the Guilford Invitational.

Vinton-Shellsburg won the team title with 184 points, and the Prairie junior varsity squad was second with 129.

Conway pinned Joe Meisner of Edgewood-Colesburg in 1 minute, 14 seconds in the championship match for the Indians.

Wyatt Ehr was second for Marion at 132 pounds, and Trevon Hernandez was third. Other third-place finishers for Marion were Zach Cochran at 106, Trey Clifton at 138, Scottlon Eckhardt at 152 and Dalton Gardner at 182.

Sahm’s 20 points lead Marion

Amanda Sahm had 20 points to lead the Marion girls basketball team to a 58-48 win over Prairie on Saturday at Marion.

Chloe Rice added 12 points for the Indians (3-1), and Tessa Jordan had 10.

Olivia Usher led the Prairie Hawks (0-4) with 13 points.

Engle lifts Marion by Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA - Craig Engle poured in 25 points Friday night as the Marion Indians trimmed Maquoketa, 46-41, in a Wamac Conference game in Maquoketa.

Baylor Fish scored eight points for the Indians. Fish and Engle hit a pair of 3-pointers.
