Indians win 4 events in Clinton

CLINTON - The Marion Indians captured four events at the Saber Invitational boys track meet in Clinton Tuesday.

Quinn Cannoy won the 110 hurdles (15.44) and DeShaun Quinn took the long jump (20-3). The Indians also won the shuttle hurdle relay (1:02.24) and the medley relay (3:44.57).

Monticello won the meet with 117 points. Marion placed third out of eight teams with 90 points.

 

Duval nets hat trick for Marion

Enoch Duval scored three goals Tuesday as Marion defeated Vinton-Shellsburg, 9-2, in a Wamac Conference soccer match at Thomas Park.

Noah Smith collected two goals for the Indians (3-1). Carter Stigge, Brandon See, Noah Walter and Trent Kuethe also found the net for Marion.

Duval, See and Daniel Tribble had two assists. Gabe Groothhais also had an assist.

 

Emi Banes will play at Grand View

Emi Banes missed her final season of basketball at Marion High School due to an injury, but her career is not over.

Banes plans to sign a letter-of-intent Wednesday to play basketball at Grand View University in Des Moines. The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. in the board room at the school.

Banes averaged 6.4 points and 1.7 rebounds for the Indians as a junior. She appeared in only one game this season and took one shot.

Grand View is an NAIA Division II school that competes in the Midwest Collegiate Conference.

   

Kelly leads Marion to second-place finish

COLESBURG - Ian Kelly finished third with a 79, leading Marion to a second-place finish in the Edgewood-Colesburg Invitational on Saturday at the Lone Pine Golf Course. Monticello, led by medalist Marcus Norton with a 77, won the meet with a team-score of 330. Marion was next at 335.

Team scores: Monticello: 330, Marion 335, East Buchanan 364, Ed-Co, 372, Cascade 391, Hudson 406, Don Bosco 412, Maquoketa Valley 481.

Marion scores: Ian Kelly, 79, Jeremy Schneiders, 80, Mitch Kack, 87, Daly Quinn, 89

 

Tribble sets record for Marion soccer team

Daniel Tribble broke the school record for career assists Friday as the Marion Indians defeated Mount Vernon, 4-1, in a Wamac Conference soccer match at Thomas Park in Marion.

Tribble, a senior, collected two assists in the victory.

Enoch Duval, Noah Smith, Ryan Whalen and Carter Stigge scored goals for Marion. Whalen and Justin Thompson also had assists.
