Early leads Hawks by IC West

Kaitlyn Early rolled a 223 game and a 425 series to lead the Prairie girls bowling team in a 2,680 to 1,970 win over Iowa City West on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Erica Roth had a 346 series to lead the Women of Troy.

Prairie: Kaitlyn Early 223-202=425, Ashley Sundstrom 176-212=388, Rylee Blood 190-189=379, Jade Klinefelter 158-191=349, Ashley Grady 154-193=347, Kara Grady 166-129=295.

Prairie boys fall to IC West

The Prairie boys bowling team lost to Iowa City West 2,736 pins to 2,560 Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Paul Toczylowski had a 212 game and a 382 series to lead the Prairie Hawks.

Nick Rohm rolled a 213 game and 396 series for the Trojans.

Iowa City West: Nick Rohm 183-213=396, Patrick Wood 201-190=391, Jordan Tiegs 189-180=369, Corey Roth 178-204=382, Ryan Stark 159-171=330, Josh Pelland 119-136=255.

Prairie: Paul Toczylowski 170-212=382, Matt Galloro 186-170=356, Shawn Wille 178-176=354, Brendan Poock 187-163=350, Dylan Kacena 113-127=240.

Prairie girls trimmed by Cedar Falls

Calli Johnson scored 16 points Friday night as the Cedar Falls Tigers trimmed Prairie, 51-49, in a Mississippi Valley Conference basketball game at Prairie.

Prairie had a chance to tie the game with two seconds left, but the Hawks missed the front end of a one-and-one opportunity at the foul line.

Olivia Usher scored 13 points and Lynsey Altenhofen had 11 for Prairie (1-2).

Cedar Falls raised its record to 2-0.

Smith-Drahos, Clark spark Prairie

Max Smith-Drahos scored 18 points and Cal Clark added 16 to lead the Prairie boys basketball to a season-opening 60-44 win over Davenport West on Thursday at Prairie.

The Prairie Hawks jumped to a 15-5 lead and made 28-of-30 free throws. Davenport West was just 2-of-7 from the line.

Brett Erwin scored 14 points to lead Davenport West (0-2).

No. 6 Prairie wrestlers pin Rams

DUBUQUE - The sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie wrestling team gave Kane Thompson a lopsided victory in his first meet as their new head coach Thursday night.

The Hawks collected eight pins and flattened Dubuque Senior, 75-6, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Dubuque.

Conrad Braswell (106), Trent Wennermark (126), Sam Uthoff (132), Casey Hogan (145), Rhett Ruzicka (152), Morgan Hood (160), Derek Horak (170) and Preston LaGrange (182) all had pins for Prairie. Wennermark posted his pin in 30 seconds and LaGrange needed only 47 seconds for his stick.
