Washington Hall of Fame gets 8 new members

Cedar Rapids Washington will induct eight new members into the school's Hall of Fame Friday night.

The new members are Chad Loupee (Class of 1980), Kevin Wilson (1982), Stephanie Green Dohrn (1992), Jon Strother (1997), Katy Bogguss Millage (2001), Milton Lanier (2001), Adrian Arrington (2004) and Arlene Shaw.

Loupee played baseball and football for the Warriors. He was a first team all-state catcher and set five school records. He played at Kirkwood and Northern Colorado.

 

Wilson played basketball at Washington and was named fifth team all-state. He helped the Warriors compiled a 32-14 record during his years on the varsity and ranks 17th in career scoring at the University of North Dakota.

 

Dohrn was honored as a third team all-state volleyball player for the Warriors. She played four years at Iowa State and is currently an adjunct professor at DePaul.

Strother is the most decorated swimmer in Washington history with eight gold medals at the state meet. He also placed in five other races at state. He was a member of four state championship teams, a national championship team and a national runnerup.

Millage starred in basketball and track at Washington. She was a three-year starter on the basketball team and made first team all-state. She helped the Warriors win state titles in the 400 relay and 800 relay and placed fifth in the 200-meter dash.

Lanier played track and football at Washington. He's recognized as the best sprinter in school history and still holds four school records. He placed five times at the state meet and was a two-time All-American at Coe.

Arrington played football, basketball and track at Washington. He was the Gatorade Football Player of the Year and twice was named all-state. He played in the 2004 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, played at the University of Michigan and just finished his fourth year with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL.

Shaw was a member of the Washington Athletic Club Board from 1989-1994 and served two terms as board president, the first two-term president in board history.

The Hall of Fame program will be held in the Washington cafeteria at 5 p.m. Friday. The new members of the Hall of Fame will be introduced between games of Washington's varsity doubleheader basketball games against Kennedy Friday night.
