Prairie girls take 2nd in MVC meet

Marissa Meyer and Charlotte Flynn shared medalist honors with 42's Tuesday to help Dubuque Wahlert take top honors at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular golf meet at Twin Pines.

Emily Machula of Prairie shot an 8-over-par 44 as the Hawks finished second in the meet. Brett Visser led Washington to third place with a 47.

Washington girls blank Kennedy netters

Lilly Hartman defeated Selby Cook, 10-3, at No. 1 singles Tuesday as Washington blanked Kennedy in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Washington.

Hannah Sherman, Kelly King, Eliza Sundermann, Laura Gibson and Abby Van Metre also won their singles matches for the Warriors.

Bergstrom sparks Warriors by Wahlert

DUBUQUE - Augie Bergstrom scored both goals Tuesday as Cedar Rapids Washington blanked Dubuque Wahlert, 2-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.

Trevor Thulin and Aroni Niyikiza collected assists. Gunnar Lenzen made two saves for the Warriors (3-2, 2-0).

   

No.5 Warriors top Kennedy in tennis

The fifth-ranked Washington boys tennis team defeated Kennedy, 7-2, Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference met at Kennedy.

Parker Muller, Oliver Hammond, Will Rizer and Jack Parmley won their singles matches for the Warriors.

Kennedy freshman Rami Hemaidan defeated Jackson Hoyt at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-1.

Wash boys win own tennis tournament

The Cedar Rapids Washington boys tennis team captured top honors at the Dave Meyer Invitational Saturday.

Jackson Hoyt and Oliver Hammond were the winners of the No. 1 doubles competition for Washington. Jack Parmley took the top prize at No. 2 singles for the Warriors.

Dane Van Antwerp and Will Riser placed second at No. 2 doubles for Washington. Parker Muller finished third at No. 1 singles.

Washington topped Decorah for the title, 156-140.
