Wash girls survive Stowers' 54 points

DAVENPORT – The Washington girls basketball team used balance to defeat Class 4A No. 7 Davenport North 88-87 in overtime Saturday at North.

Sophomore Jacionna Stowers poured in 54 points to lead the Wildcats (13-2), sinking six 3-point goals and making 20-of-24 free throws.

But Joniqua Clark answered with 26 points and four steals for the unranked Warriors (9-6). Jessi Puk chipped in 13 points with six rebounds and Jayla Johnson scored 10 points.

Printy leads Warriors with 22 in loss

Jared Printy’s 22 points and four steals weren’t enough for the Washington boys basketball team in a 75-67 loss to Des Moines Roosevelt on Saturday at Washington.

Maurice Arrington added 16 points for the Warriors, who fell to 6-7.

Jeremiah Chandler, Daniel Luckett and Jamel Carter each had 17 points for Des Moines Roosevelt (6-6).

Christensen leads Wash over Lions

Shania Christensen rolled a 257 game and 427 series Friday to help Washington defeat Linn-Mar, 2606-2513, in a Mississippi Valley Conference bowling meet at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Alexis Tschantz of Linn-Mar (3-5) challenged Christensen for top honors with a 425 series with games of 212 and 213. Lynze Moon had a 398 series for Washington (3-5).

Wash boys bury J-Hawks with 3's

Jared Printy and Steven Kramer led a 3-point barrage for the Washington Warriors Friday night in a 68-46 victory over Jefferson in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at the Washington gym.

Printy drilled six 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Kramer nailed four triples and added 14 points. Maurice Arrington joined the fun with two 3-pointers and 16 points.

Keegan Moore and Trevor Thulin also made a 3-pointer, giving the Warriors 14 in 34 attempts for 41.2 percent. Moore scored 10 points.

Laveechie Williams grabbed eight rebounds for Washington (6-6). Printy had four assists.

Warrior girls bump off J-Hawks

The Washington Warriors built a 40-19 lead at halftime Friday night and defeated Jefferson, 57-40, in a Mississippi Valley Conference girls basketball game at Washington.

Joniqua Clark, Anne Visser, Kandis O'Donnell and Emily Oler led a balanced attack for Washington with eight points apiece. O'Donnell grabbed eight rebounds and Clark had six steals for the Warriors (8-6, 3-4).

Kennedy Dighton scored 15 points for Jefferson (6-9, 4-4).
