Washington boys roll Wahawks 71-52

WATERLOO – The Washington boys basketball team pulled away in the second half to beat Waterloo West 71-52 Tuesday at Waterloo West.

The Warriors led 31-28 at halftime, but out-scored the Wahawks 40-24 in the second half.

Jared Printy had five 3-point goals and finished with 17 points for Washington (4-5), Laveechie Williams had 12 points, and Steven Kramer added 11.

Lincoln Conrey had 20 points for Waterloo West.

Visser leads Wash girls to win

Anne Visser had 12 points to lead the Washington girls basketball team to a 60-40 win over Waterloo West on Tuesday at Washington.

Kandis O’Donnell had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors (6-6), and Jessi Puk also had 10 points.

Aliyah Robinson had 14 points for the Wahawks (3-10).

WATERLOO WEST (40): Robinson 3 8-13 14, Pabst 4 0-0 12, Young 0 1-2 1, Fisher 3 4-4 11, Cook 1 0-0 2. Totals 11 13-21 40.

Thorson leads Wash swimmers over CF

Jared Thorson won two individual events to lead the Washington boys swimming team to a 106-63 win over Cedar Falls on Tuesday at Washington.

Thorson won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 52.87 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.20 for the Warriors.

Also, Matt Jackson won the 200 individual medley in 2:11.59, Nick Saulnier won the 50 freestyle, and Jack Foarde won the 500 freestyle for Washington, and the Warriors won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Wash boys hold off Grinnell

Keegan Moore had 21 points and nine rebounds as the Washington boys basketball team held on to beat Grinnell 59-52 Saturday at Washington.

The Warriors led 18-7 after the first quarter, but the Tigers came back with a 14-6 run in the second quarter. Washington (3-5) held on in the fourth quarter for the win.

Samuel Allen had 13 points for Grinnell, and Cade McKnight added 11 points and 16 rebounds.

GRINNELL (52): Schulte 1 0-1 2, Honold 2 0-0 4, Wray 0 2-2 2, Allen 3 5-7 13, Harris 1 3-4 5, Graham 1 0-0 2, Vosburg 2 0-1 4, McKnight 3 5-9 11, York 3 3-8 9. Totals 16 18-32 52.

Visser leads Wash girls over Grinnell

Annie Visser scored 20 points as the Washington girls basketball team rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to beat Grinnell 57-45 at Washington.

The Warriors went on a 21-13 run in the third quarter to take the lead, and pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Courtney Squires had 10 points for Washington (5-6), and Kandis O’Donnell added eight points and 11 rebounds.
