Xavier girls dunked by IC West

The 15th-ranked Iowa City West girls basketball team doubled up Xavier, 62-31, Tuesday at Xavier.

Lexi Noonan scored 14 points to lead the Saints (2-3).

The Women of Troy improved to 4-0.

Prairie grapplers win Independence title

INDEPENDENCE - Cedar Rapids Prairie crowned three champions and captured top honors at the Independence wrestling tournament Saturday.

Marcus England, Sam Uthoff and Taylor Mehmen came home with titles for the Hawks.

England pinned Kyle Prewitt of Christian Brothers College in 1:46 for the crown at 113 pounds. Uthoff pinned Chase Lienhard of Crestwood in 3:20 for the championship at 132 pounds. Mehmen trimmed Matt McMillan of Independence, 9-7, in overtime for the title at 195.

Clint Lembeck of Xavier won the 138-pound title with a 10-4 victory over Drew Davis of Independence in the finals.

Johnny Clymer of Linn-Mar won the 145-pound crown with a 4-3 victory over Josh Gerke of Xavier.

Prairie claimed the team championship with 223.5 points. Crestwood finished second with 159 points. Linn-Mar placed sixth and Xavier finished seventh out of 12 squads.

Mims sparks Saints by Waverly

Matt Mims collected 19 points, five steals and five assists Saturday as the Xavier Saints trimmed Waverly-Shell Rock, 46-43, in a non-conference basketball game at Xavier.

Nolan Butowski contributed 10 points for the Saints (2-0).

Mitchell Burger did not play Saturday for Xavier.

Andrew Epley scored 11 points for Waverly-Shell Rock (0-2).

Milota leads Cougars by Saints

Jamie Milota rolled a 370 series to lead the Kennedy girls bowling team to a 2,435 to 2,010 win over Xavier on Friday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

Milota also had a high game of 192 for the Cougars.

Tanya Zaugg had a 169 game and a 294 series for the Saints.

 

Jambois leads Cougars by Saints

The Kennedy boys bowling team defeated Xavier 2,975 pins to 2,494 Friday at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.

James Jambois had a 245 game and a 489 series to lead the Cougars. Charlie Hart had a 202 game and Michael Buenzow had a 376 series for the Saints.
