Metro Players in Pro Baseball

The Metro Sports Report provides daily updates on all the Metro graduates in pro baseball.

Here is the updated report through Wednesday:

SCOTT SCHEBLER (CR Prairie), Oklahoma City, OF, Triple-A, Pacific Coast League (Dodgers): Schebler went 0-for-3 Wednesday in a 4-3 loss to New Orleans. He hit sixth in the lineup and played center field. Schebler is hitting .218 (17-for-78) with 10 runs, three doubles, five home runs, 10 RBIs, 12 walks, 19 strikeouts and two stolen bases.

CHAD CHRISTENSEN (CR Washington), Fort Myers, OF, High-A, Florida State League (Twins): Christensen did not play Wednesday in a 9-0 victory over Bradenton. He is hitting .250 (21-for-84) with eight runs, four doubles, one home run, seven RBIs, eight walks, 21 strikeouts and two stolen bases.

JON KELLER (CR Xavier), Frederick, P, High-A, Carolina League (Orioles): Keller did not pitch Wednesday against Winston-Salem. The game was suspended in the fifth inning due to rain with Frederick trailing, 3-2. They will finish the game Thursday. Keller has a 1-2 record and 3.63 ERA.

 

Ives gets hat trick for No. 4 Saints

Katie Ives knocked in three goals Tuesday as the fourth-ranked Xavier girls soccer team rolled by Dubuque Wahlert, 6-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match.

Addy Hoffman, Ellie Fischer and Elena Minor also scored for the Saints.

Sydney Wright, Lizzy Bailey, Minor, Tana Felton and Josie Fuhrman had assists.

Xavier girls roll by Waterloo East

WATERLOO - Allison Jasper of Xavier defeated Olivia Hubert, 10-0, at No. 1 singles Tuesday as the Saints shut out Waterloo East 9-0 in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet in Waterloo.

Claire Bouchard, Katie Neumeyer and Megan D'mello also won their matches by 10-0 counts for Xavier. Jeanne Bouchard and Ellie Detweiler posted 10-1 victories.

No.2 Saints boot No.15 Wahlert

DUBUQUE - The second-ranked Xavier Saints received goals from seven different players Tuesday and spanked No.15 Dubuque Wahlert, 7-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys soccer match in Dubuque.

Will Hanigan, Luke Koechner, Nolan Armstrong, Nick Koechner, Connor Ramlo, Luke Duball and Tyler Testin fired in goals for Xavier. Dubal and Ramlo had two assists. Stephen Jones, Josh Hoffmann and Connor Stevenson also had assists.

Xavier led at halftime, 5-0. Jordan Even and Daniel Richardson split time in goal.

 

Mims will play hoops at Loras

Xavier High School senior Michael Mims has committed to play his college basketball at Loras College in Dubuque.

Mims, a 5-foot-11 point guard, averaged 10 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds for the Saints this past season. He made 46 3-pointers and had 37 steals.

Mims helped Xavier finish third at the Class 3A state tournament with an 18-9 record.

Mims transferred from Prairie to Xavier for his senior year of basketball. He was an all-Metro and all-conference selection during his career.

Loras is an NCAA Division III school that competes in the Iowa Conference.
