Xavier girls fall to Lady Trojans

The Xavier girls tennis team lost to Iowa City West, 8-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Tuesday.

Megan D'mello and Nina Marquardt won their match at No. 3 doubles for the Saints.

Ramlo wins Metro Spotlight Award

Connor Ramlo of Xavier is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Ramlo, a senior, is one of the leaders of the Xavier soccer team that is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A with a 4-0 record. He has collected four goals and six assists for 14 points this season.

Ramlo was named first team all-state in 2014 and scored the game-winning goal as a sophomore in 2013 when the Saints won the state title.

Xavier boys top N. Scott in Shootout

The Xavier Saints edged North Scott, 2-1, in a PK Shootout Friday in a battle of highly regarded Class 2A boys soccer teams.

Joshua Hoffmann scored in regulation for Xavier with an assist from Connor Ramlo. North Scott tied the match late in the second period.

The Saints won the PK Shootout, 5-4, raising their record to 4-0.

Xavier is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A and North Scott is ranked No. 11.

   

Saints net win over Columbus

Xavier won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles matches en route to an 8-1 non-conference win over Waterloo Columbus on Friday at Xavier.

Ben Curley was an impressive 6-0, 6-1 winner over Francis Hart at No. 1 singles.

North Scott edges Xavier, 1-0

North Scott scored off a corner kick with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game to come away with  1-0 win over Xavier on Friday night Xavier.

The visiting Lancers outshot the hosts 23-7. Xavier goaltender Melody Snow made three saves for the 0-3 Saints.
