Xavier girls blanked by Hempstead

DUBUQUE - The Xavier girls soccer team was shut out by Dubuque Hempstead,  4-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Dubuque Tuesday.

Xavier is ranked No. 3 in Class 2A. Hempstead is ranked No. 7 in Class 3A.

Beth Samek made her debut as Xavier's new head coach.

 

No.2 Saints blank Hempstead in soccer

The Xavier Saints nipped Dubuque Hempstead, 1-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference battle of ranked boys soccer teams at Heco Field Tuesday.

Luke Koechner scored the only goal in the game.

Xavier is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A. Hempstead is ranked No. 10 in Class 3A.

 

Xavier boys split two MVC meets

The Xavier boys tennis team split two Mississippi Valley Conference meets in Blackhawk County Saturday.

The Saints blanked Waterloo West, 9-0, and were trimmed by Cedar Falls, 5-4.

Ben Curley rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles against Waterloo West. Jack VonKampen won both of his matches for the Saints.

Jasper, Bouchard lead Xavier girls

Allison Jasper and Jeanne Bouchard won both of their singles matches Saturday as the Xavier Saints split a pair of Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meets at Xavier.

The Saints nipped Waterloo West, 5-4, and lost to Cedar Falls, 6-3.

Jasper won both of her contests at No. 1 singles. Bouchard took both of her matches at No. 2 singles.

J-Hawks turn in 4 state-best efforts

The Jefferson J-Hawks took advantage of the good weather Saturday and posted four state-best efforts at the Kennedy coed track meet at Kingston Stadium.

Jasmine Blue took over the No. 1 spot in the 100 meter dash at 12.22 seconds and Abbie Ranschau moved to the top of the chart in the 100 hurdles in 14.87 seconds to help the Jefferson girls win the team championship by 50 points.

The Jefferson girls also lowered their own state-best mark in the 4x100 relay to 48.38 seconds with Lucy Schneekloth, Ranschau, Morgan Meese and Blue sharing the baton.

Merje' Bokoyo from the Jefferson boys track team was clocked in 10.86 seconds in the 100 meter dash, matching the best time in the state this year.
