WATERLOO - Taylor Olson collected 17 points, five steals and five assists Tuesday night as Cedar Rapids Jefferson trimmed Waterloo East, 61-57, in a Mississippi Valley Conference basketball game in Waterloo.
Ky Kramer contributed 13 points, three steals and two assists for the J-Hawks (12-6, 8-5). Tyler Hemphill produced 11 points, four steals, two blocks and an assist.
Olson shot only 2 for 12 from the field, but he cashed 12 of 19 free throws and hit a 3-pointer. The J-Hawks won the game at the foul line, hitting 27 of 39 (compared to 6 of 14 for East).
Desmond VanArsdale tossed in five 3-pointers and led Waterloo East (5-13, 2-11) with 17 points. Corshundous Love and Deaton Hoskins scored 10 points apiece.
Waterloo East led at halftime, 29-23.
