Olson nets 24 as Jeff rips Prairie

Jacob Olson poured in 24 points Tuesday night as Jefferson bopped Prairie, 63-39, in a Mississippi Valley Conference basketball game at Prairie.

Michael Mims scored 14 points for Prairie (5-15, 3-12).

Jefferson raised its records to 6-14 overall and 4-12 in the league.

Warriors net biggest win in 3 years

The Cedar Rapids Washington boys basketball team could finally laugh a little Friday night and enjoy themselves.

The Warriors belted Jefferson, 57-36, on Hall of Fame Night at Washington for their most lopsided victory in three years.

"I think it was kind of an exhale," said Coach Adam Sanchez. "We've had all this anger built up in close losses and close games where we've played well in stretches. We finally just went out and played well and were able to take a lead and extend a lead.

"I think we finally got to see our guys take a big, deep breath and have some fun playing basketball."

Burger's 26 points lead Saints past J-Hawks

Mitch Burger poured in 26 points and Adam McDermott added 21 to help Xavier rally past Jefferson for a 70-59 win Tuesday night in MVC boys basketball at Jefferson.

Jacob Olson tallied 24 points and Tyler Konigsmark 23 for Jefferson (5-13, 3-11).

Calvin Winker added 11 points for Xavier (11-7, 7-6).

Xavier outscored Jefferson 19-8 in the third quarter to turn a three-point halftime deficit into a 47-39 lead.

Bardsley torches J-Hawks with 31

John Bardsley's right hand is a mess, with bubble wrap on the back of his hand and two fingers taped together to protect a broken bone.

It hasn't hurt his shot a bit.

Bardsley poured in a career-best 31 points off the bench Friday night to steer Kennedy past Jefferson, 80-73, in an entertaining Mississippi Valley Conference game at Jefferson.

Wahlert rocks J-Hawks, 65-33

DUBUQUE - Cordell Pemsl scored 21 points to lead Class 3A No.2 Dubuque Wahlert's 65-33 rout of Jefferson in an MVC boys basketball game Tuesday night at Wahlert.

Jacob Olson scored 18 points to lead Jefferson (5-11, 3-9).

Wahlert is 14-2, 11-1.
