Jeff girls fade in 2nd half against No. 2 West

Jefferson battled second-ranked Iowa City West tough for a half trailing by just seven, 35-28, at halftime.

But the Women of Troy's depth and ability were too much for the shorthanded J-Hawks -- who played just five girls. West pulled away to stay unbeaten in the Mississippi Valley Conference with a 79-54 win Friday night at Jefferson.

Jefferson's Kieley Brathwaite led all scorers with 23. Maddie Koolbeck chipped in 18 for the J-Hawks (7-12, 2-12).
