CENTRALIA, Ill. - Kayla Tatge blasted three home runs, including a grand slam, to lead Kirkwood to a 13-6 win over Kankakee on Friday in junior college softball.
Kirkwood (2-1) banged out 20 hits. Tatge drove in six runs.
Leah Duffe had two hits and also swatted a grand slam. She drove in four runs.
Haylee Krack and Shelby Crist had three hits apiece for the Eagles.
Shyanne Saladino struck out four batters in 3 1/3 innings for the win. Sam Belz fanned five over the final 3 2/3 innings.
Kirkwood's second game Friday, against Kaskaskia, was suspended in the top of the fourth inning because of darkness with the Eagles holding a 4-0 lead. The game will be completed Saturday and Kirkwood will play two more games.
