MARSHALLTOWN - The third-ranked Kirkwood Eagles ran their winning streak to 31 straight games Wednesday when they swept a doubleheader from Marshalltown, 2-0 and 5-2.
Amber Logemann (16-3, 0.53 ERA) pitched a four-hit shutout in the opener. Kristen Winter went 2-for-3. Leah Duffe and Lauren Smith collected RBIs.
Sam Belz (14-0, 0.76 ERA) pitched the first six innings to get the victory in the nightcap. Logemann tossed the final inning and struck out three batters for the save.
Kelsie Campbell hit a home run and drove in two runs for Kirkwood in Game 2. Duffe went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Shelby Crist was 2-for-2.
Kirkwood (38-3, 18-0) hosts No.6 DMACC (31-3, 18-2) in a showdown for the ICCAC lead in a doubleheader Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Kirkwood field.
Marshalltown fell to 17-19 and 12-10 in the conference.
