ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Team USA defeated the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 5-4, in overtime Friday night in a USHL game before 281 fans at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.
Andrew Poturalski tied the game for Cedar Rapids, 4-4, with an unassisted goal midway through the third period. It was his second goal of the night.
Sonny Milano won the game for Team USA at the 1:46 mark in overtime.
Poturalski gave the RoughRiders (29-17-3) a 1-0 lead early in the first period, but Team USA scored twice in the stanza for a 2-1 edge.
Dylan Steman and Alec Marsh scored consecutive goals in the second period to give Cedar Rapids a 3-2 advantage, but Team USA scored twice in the first five minutes of the third period for a 4-3 lead.
Team USA out-shot the RoughRiders, 45-20. Danny Tirone had a busy night with 40 saves for Cedar Rapids.
The RoughRiders face Team USA again on Saturday.
