CLERMONT, Fla. - The Coe softball team defeated RPI, 4-3, Saturday in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Bob Timmons his 900th victory as a college head coach.
The game was tied, 3-3, when Abby Flannagan led off the bottom of the seventh with a double to left-center. Taylor Riedl bunted Flannagan to third and she scored on a game-winning single to left-center by Emily Grell.
Maddison Woodruff (5-0) got the victory in relief. Aaran Weeces pitched six-plus innings for the Kohawks and collected 10 strikeouts.
The 11th-ranked Kohawks defeated Ohio Northern, 11-1, in their second game Saturday and finished their spring trip to Florida with a 10-1 record.
Timmons has compiled a 526-195 record in 17 years at Coe. He had a 375-162 mark in 12 years at Mount Mercy for an overall record of 901-357 in 29 campaigns.
Maliah Fligg hit a home run against RPI.
