Former J-Hawk Allee Juco All-American

FORT DODGE - Iowa Central freshman shortstop Morgan Allee capped an amazing freshman season with NJCAA Division II First Team All-American softball honors this week.

Allee, a former Cedar Rapids Jefferson prep, enjoyed a record-breaking freshman campaign as she set the single-season record for batting average with a .524 average, breaking the previous batting average record by 52 points. The .524 average was second in the nation for anyone with more than 100 at bats. Allee finished with 19 doubles, four triples and six home runs. She collected 77 hits and scored 62 runs. Allee went 47-for-48 in stolen bases and had a single-game record for stolen bases with five against St. Louis-Meramec. Her 47 stolen bases are fifth all-time at Iowa Central.

"Morgan deserves all the credit in the world for this accomplishment," said Coach Josh Sandin. "She has done a ton of hard work to get to this point and she has a drive and passion that can't be matched. I am so proud of her."

Allee is the seventh Triton to be named All-American by the NJCAA and the first to be selected to the First Team. She was also named First Team All-Region XI as well as Region XI Defensive Player of the Year. She was named All-Midwest Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. In addition, Allee was named National Player of the Week by the NJCAA on March 21.

Iowa Central finished the season 45-13 overall and ranked No. 12 in the NJCAA. Iowa Central lost in the Region XI Championship game 5-1 to Kirkwood.
