Fry 4th J-Hawk softball signee

Senior Kenna Fry has signed a national letter of attend to play softball at Iowa Central Community College.

“I picked Iowa Central because they have a great softball program,” Fry said. “The coach and teammates were very welcoming.”

Iowa Central is a two-year school and leaves open the possibility for Fry to play at a DI school after her stint at Iowa Central.

“It played a part in my decision. I would love to go D1 and play at even a higher level,” Fry said. “I think Iowa Central will be a great place to get me ready for that.”

Fry will be the third J-Hawk in three years to head to Iowa Central following 2010 classmates Brittany Madsen and Morgan Allee.

“It definitely played a huge part in my decision,” Fry said of good friend Allee having gone to Iowa Central. “It was more of her success at Iowa Central that led to my decision. I hope I can have the same success.”

Fry is the fourth J-Hawk of the 2012 class to sign to play college softball. Hannah Petersen and Carson Burgart have signed with Mount Mercy and Rachel Sedlacek with Northern Iowa.

Fry had an offer from Mount Mercy. She also was being recruited by Kirkwood, Simpson and Buena Vista.

“It made my decision harder,” Fry said about possibly joining her Jeff teammates headed to Mount Mercy. “Iowa Central was just a better fit for me. They seem like family there.”

Fry batted .400 with six home runs and 39 RBI last season for the J-Hawks.

She said she she will look to become an even better hitter in college.

“My goals are just to improve my skill level as much as possible and to become an overall better hitter,” Fry said.
