BURLINGTON - The top-ranked Kennedy baseball team got more exceptional pitching Saturday and blasted Burlington, 14-1, in a non-conference game in Burlington.

Alex Hayden (2-0) tossed four strong innings and Zach Johnson pitched the fifth and final frame for Kennedy. The Cougars (4-0) have allowed only one earned run in 24 innings this season for a team ERA of 0.29.

Hayden struck out four batters, allowed two hits, did not walk anyone and was touched for an unearned run. He has fanned 18 batters in 10 1/3 innings.

Hayden also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Devon Jacobus went 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Burlington (3-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, but Kennedy scored six runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth and six more runs in the fifth. Brock Skow and Adam Lloyd had two RBIs apiece.
