Prairie, Jeff girls win in Mt. Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls track team won two events and finished third in the team standings at the Mount Pleasant Relays Tuesday.

Kirstin Skriver captured the 400 in 1:02.84 for Prairie. The Hawks also won the sprint medley in 1:58.30 with Morgan Lewis, Hannah Roltgen, Jenna Ross and Skriver.

The Jefferson J-Hawks won three events and finished fourth out of eight teams in the standings.

Sarah Hanna claimed the 1500 for the J-Hawks in 5:05.64. Jefferson also won the 4x200 relay and the distance medley.

Prairie girls nipped by No.1 IC West

The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls soccer team was trimmed by second-ranked Iowa City West, 2-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at Prairie Tuesday night.

Hannah Kousheh scored for Prairie.

Emma Cooper collected both goals for Iowa City West. Katie Olson and Marissa Frisbee had assists for West.

WATERLOO - Emily Machula's 44 led Prairie to a third-place finish in a four-team Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular meet at Irv Warren Golf Course.

Iowa City West took team honors with a 173. Dubuque Senior's Maddie Hawkins was the medalist, shooting a 42

Prairie's Sprengeler to play at UND

Cedar Rapids Prairie's Megan Sprengeler has committed to play volleyball next season at the University of North Dakota.

Sprengeler, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter/defensive specialist, was an honorable mention all-Metro selection and a team captain for the Hawks.

"Megan’s upside is tremendous," said UND Coach Mark Prior in a press release. "Megan was a six-rotation player in high school, but she will move into a more defensive role here."

Pritts helps Prairie boot Jefferson

Paige Pritts scored two goals Thursday as Prairie defeated Jefferson, 3-1, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Prairie.

Hannah Kousheh collected the third goal for Prairie. Adelaide Bayne had an assist for the Hawks.

Jefferson scored on an own-goal.
