Prairie girls take 2nd in MVC meet

Marissa Meyer and Charlotte Flynn shared medalist honors with 42's Tuesday to help Dubuque Wahlert take top honors at a Mississippi Valley Conference quadrangular golf meet at Twin Pines.

Emily Machula of Prairie shot an 8-over-par 44 as the Hawks finished second in the meet. Brett Visser led Washington to third place with a 47.

Prairie girls roll by Jeff netters

Vale Caro cruised to a 10-0 victory over Kylie Jonas at No. 1 singles Tuesday as Prairie blanked Jefferson, 10-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Prairie.

Magui Caro, Karleigh Schilling, Michelle Grenn and Anna Postinkov also won their singles matches by 10-0 tallies for Prairie.

J-Hawk boys nip Prairie netters

Zach Bisenius and Alex Moncivais won a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles Tuesday to help Jefferson nip Prairie, 5-4, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis match at Jefferson.

Bisenius and Moncivais trimmed Jason Niccolls and Brandon Bruhn, 6-2, 2-6, 12-10 for a clutch point for the J-Hawks.

Alex Tvedte, Jason Chung and Kellen Brown won their singles matches for Jefferson.

Prairie girls kick Waterloo East, 10-0

WATERLOO - MaKenzie Serbousek scored three goals Tuesday as the 15th-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie girls soccer team blanked Waterloo East, 10-0, at Sloane Wallace Stadium in Waterloo.

Adelaide Bayne and Maggie Lampe had two goals for the Hawks. Ali Morrow, Sophie Ortiz and Cassie Noel also tallied for Prairie.

Morrow had a pair of assists.

Prairie boys kick Waterloo East, 24-0

The 15th-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie boys soccer team crushed Waterloo East, 24-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference mismatch at Prairie Monday night.

The Hawks scored 12 goals in both halves.

Logan Rinderknecht and Boston Riley led the onslaught with four goals apiece. Seth Rinderknecht, Steve Fritz and Skyler Schreurs had three goals. Ben Drysdale scored twice.

JoJo Simpson, JoJuan Simpson, Joe Vizzini, Adam Keller and Zach Lefebure also scored.

Prairie is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
