Linn-Mar boys dump Prairie, 67-42

Nic Uhlir’s 13 points led a balanced attack for the Linn-Mar boys basketball team as the Lions beat Prairie, 67-42, Friday at Linn-Mar.

Uhlir was the only Lion to score in double digits. Jordan Bohannon scored nine points. Trevor Noble, Ryan Schmidt and Jordan Brandt added eight points.

Max Smith Drahos scored 12 points for the Prairie Hawks.

Linn-Mar is 15-4. Prairie fell to 8-12.

Prairie bowlers push Waterloo West girls

WATERLOO – Ashley Grady bowled a 234 game and Rylee Blood had a 416 series to lead the Prairie girls bowling team in a 2,897 to 2,816 loss to undefeated Waterloo West on Friday at Maple Lanes.

The Prairie Hawks finished 9-2 in the regular season.

Katlyn Bracken rolled a 427 series to lead the Wahawks (12-0).

Prairie (2,816): Rylee Blood 205-211=416, Ashley Grady 157-234=391, Kaitlyn Early 167-204=371, Mikayla Hite 184-159=343, Jade Klinefelter 193-136=329, Sabrina Keiper 144-148=292.

Waterloo West bowlers sink Prairie boys

WATERLOO – Walker Hunt rolled a 231 game and a 446 series to lead the Prairie boys bowling team in a 3,033 to 2,968 loss to Waterloo West on Friday at Maple Lanes.

Andrew Gerst had a 464 series to lead the Wahawks (8-4). Prairie finished the regular season 4-7.

Ollinger drives Linn-Mar girls by Prairie

Amanda Ollinger scored 19 points to lead the Linn-Mar girls basketball team in a 58-39 win over Prairie on Friday at Linn-Mar.

Ollinger popped in four 3-pointers.

After trailing 6-4 in the first quarter, the Lions took off with a 21-9 run in the second quarter and cruised to the win.

Olivia Montague scored 11 points. Nikita Sharma, Kamryn Finley and Lannie Nietert each added nine points.

No. 4 Prairie pins Hempstead in duals

Cedar Rapids Prairie collected six pins Wednesday night and flattened Dubuque Hempstead, 61-6, in the Class 3A regional dual meet finals at Prairie.

The fourth-ranked Prairie Hawks (22-4) will meet fifth-ranked West Des Moines Valley (18-2) in the quarterfinals of the state dual meet tournament next Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. With a win over Valley, the Hawks would face No. 1 Southeast Polk or No. 8 Dowling in the second round.

Dylan Kkleinschmidt (120), Sam Uthoff (126), Zach Fiser (138), Nick Hogan (170), Alex Heisdorffer (195) and Tyler Pasker (220) had pins for Prairie Wednesday night.
