Wash grapplers drop 2 meets

The Cedar Rapids Washington wrestling team forfeited a series of matches Thursday and lost a pair of Mississippi Valley Conference meets to Waterloo West and Waterloo East.

The Warriors were unable to put a wrestler on the mat for half of their 28 matches and lost to Waterloo West, 48-18, and Waterloo East, 48-27.

Will Foreman had two pins for Washington. Logan Sears and Jordan Henderson also had two victories for the Warriors.

Prairie girls fall at No.5 IC West

IOWA CITY - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team was defeated by fifth-ranked Iowa City West, 69-49, in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Iowa City.

Olivia Usher led Prairie (0-2) with 11 points. Mikaela Morgan scored 12 points for Iowa City West (3-0).

Rickertsen wins opener with Prairie

DAVENPORT - Jeremy Rickertsen won his debut as the new Cedar Rapids Prairie boys basketball coach Tuesday night as the Hawks dumped Davenport West, 63-35, in Davenport.

Coen Brown led a balanced attack for Prairie with 10 points. Mitch Lorenz scored nine points, Ethan Copeland eight points and Cal Clark eight points.

Max Taylor popped in five 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Davenport West.

Prairie girls drop opener at Muscatine

MUSCATINE - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team gave Muscatine a good battle in the season opener Tuesday before falling short, 63-57, in Muscatine in Josh Bentley's first game as head coach.

Freshman Elle Herold led Prairie with 13 points. Olivia Usher finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Annabel Graettinger paced Muscatine with 26 points.

Prairie girls squeak past Linn-Mar

The Prairie girls bowling team overcame a 69 pin first-round deficit to beat Linn-Mar 2,635 to 2,605 Tuesday at Lancer Lanes.

The Prairie Hawks took control in the Baker round, where they led 974 to 875.

Rylee Blood led Prairie with a 426 series. MeKena Diercks had a 400 series for Linn-Mar.

Prairie (2,635): Rylee Blood 200-226=426, Kaitlyn Early 146-188=334, Riley Hansen 171-161-332, Sabrina Keiper 147-140=287, Linsey Grady 144-138=282, Mikayla Hite 125-152=277.
