Good-Jones wins Metro Spotlight Award
Julian Good-Jones of Cedar Rapids Washington has been named the Metro Spotlight winner for high school boys, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.
Good-Jones, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman, is one of the top football players in the state and a key member of the Washington team that has won 12 straight games this season.
The top-ranked Warriors will face second-ranked Bettendorf in the semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs on Friday at 4:06 p.m. in the UNI-Dome.
Good-Jones has committed to the Iowa State Cyclones as an offensive lineman, but he's been a two-way player for Washington this season on both sides of the ball. He's a member of a powerful offensive line that has helped the Warriors run for 3,420 yards, which is the second-best total in Class 4A in the state.
